High Calorie & High Protein Cheesecake Milkshake
So many people struggle to eat and drink enough during cancer treatment.
Whether they are getting chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or both, appeite and taste are usually affected.
Treatment can make foods taste like:
You’ve been drinking ocean water
It’s marinated in a bucket of pennies
Nothing. You could be chewing on a box.
Or perhaps the side effects leave you with physical limitations, like:
You gag on solid foods
Your mouth and throat are on fire
Any other reason which makes it hard to eat
If this sounds like what you’re going through, I recommend drinking your calories and protein sources as much as possible.
Shakes and smoothies are easier to swallow. And while nothing may taste great right now, blended drinks like this one can help because they:
Spend less time in your mouth, which decreases the chance of the drink gagging you
Have less contact time with mouth sores
Improve your ability to stay nourished and hydrated during treatment
Recipe Preparation!
This recipe uses only three ingredients!
I went to my local bakery and bought a slice of plain cheesecake, but you can make some yourself or ask that friend/family member to make one!
Now it’s time to pull out that blender or food processor. I’ve been using my food processor, as my blender is on it’s last legs and needs to be replaced.
Alright, it’s time to get blending!
